What: The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research invites applications for its various PhD programmes.

Details

~ Subjects:

~ You will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 8,000, which is enhanced to Rs 9,500 after registration.

~ An annual contingency grant of Rs 10,000 in addition to a tuition grant covering the annual fees is also given.

~ On-campus accommodation is also provided at a nominal cost.

Selection method

~ You will be shortlisted on the basis of your performance in the written test.

~ Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview.

Important dates

~ Please send your completed application form by October 13.

~ The written test will be held on December 10.

How To apply

~ Please send your application on plain paper stating name, current address, date of birth, e-mail address, choice of subject, the preferred centre for written test, and a detailed table of marks from class X onwards. 

~ Your applications must be accompanied by two passport size photographs, one pasted and one stapled to the application and a self-addressed stamped (Rs 20) envelope (25cm x 17cm) superscribed GS-2007 (Subject).

~ You must enclose a demand draft of Rs 350 with your application.

~ For Biology, the demand draft must be in favour of National Centre for Biological Sciences, payable at Bangalore.

~ For all other subjects, the demand draft must be in favour of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, payable at Mumbai.

Note: Candidates who wish to appear for the written test in multiple subjects are required to send separate applications for each subject.

Walk-In candidates

~ Some candidates without hall tickets may be allowed to take the test if seats are available.

~ They should be present at the centres one hour prior to the timing of the test and bring all original mark sheets, Demand Draft for Rs 500 and 2 photographs.
