Some films are bigger than they seem.
Jai Santoshi Maa [Images] may seem like a modest remake, but the original was a massive success, and a milestone in terms of religious cinema.
The title track Main toh aarti utaraoon re santoshi maa ki, composed by C Arjun, is one of the most popular bhajans to this day.
On Thursday night, Mumbai saw the music launch for the new film, all composed by Anu Malik [Images]. And while the film itself features a less than stellar cast, superstar Salman Khan [Images] was on hand for the launch.
The film marks the Bollywoood debut of actress Vedhika Kumar, who has done leading roles in regional films like Maderasi (Tamil) and Sivakasi (Telugu) in the past.
Ahmed Siddiqui, who was chief assistant director of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Veer Zaara [Images], directs the film set to be released during Navratri this year, on September 22.
