Amritraj leaps 14 places in singles

Prakash Amritraj's good showing in tournaments in the United States enabled him jump 14 places in the latest ATP singles rankings.

Amritraj, the second highest-ranked Indian on the circuit, is now perched at 262.

Karan Rastogi [Images], despite failing to impress in the last weeks after his historic feat in Morocco, gained four places to be ranked 339th.

Leander Paes [Images] consolidated his position in the top 10 of the doubles ranking, gaining one place to eighth, while Mahesh Bhupathi [Images] remained steady on 21.

India's highest ranked player Rohan Bopanna, who lost two slots and is ranked 215th in singles, rode on two back-to-back doubles titles in Manchester and Nottingham to climb four places to the 101.

Also rising in the doubles rankings was Mustafa Ghouse, who reached the final of the Nottingham Challenger. He moved to 146, up 18 rungs.
