Unfancied United Sporting Club held favourites JCT to a goalless draw in their fifth outing of the ONGC [Get Quote] I-League football championship in Kolkata on Thursday night.

Despite missing seven of their regular footballers either due to injury or card problems, United SC dominated proceedings for most part of the game.

In fact, the Kolkata outfit should have won the match and that too with a comfortable margin but for the chances they missed including a penalty.

JCT custodian Karanjit Singh and defender Anwar Ali also put up a stubborn fight to put their fort intact in the Salt Lake Stadium encounter.

JCT now have earned eight points from five matches, while United could gathered five from as many outings.

After surviving a JCT onslaught in the very second minute of the game, United SC took control of the game with Snehasish Chakraborty setting up nice passes but his compatriot Ayan Chowdhury missed those opportunities.

United were awarded a penalty in the 39th minute when a JCT defender handled the ball following a corner. Dulal Biswas who took the spot kick but it was saved by Karanjit who dived full length to his right.

The second half saw United SC controlling the game for most of the time but failed to score. A minute before close, they forced another fine chance which was however missed by Ayan.
